Bullet Candy
Much like Robotron: 2084, Bullet Candy by Charlie's Games is an action game set in space with similar controls but a better mouse targetting system.

Progress is saved every fifth stage. There are items to collect in all the mayhem, but not necessary for level completion. The full version includes fifty stages, a survival mode with no time limit, the Asteroid Belt game, a trippy Minter mode and more.
