Remaking Snake in any form for the Retro Remakes competition is never a good idea, since the gameplay is extremely simple and won't hold interest for longer than a couple of minutes at best. Justin Reid's 3D Snake only manages to be a novelty piece and not much more.

Seems pretty bland, but I must disagree that a Snake clone cannot be good. Ever saw the games of a 2004 Darkbasic contest? They were all clones of a few classic games (it was the compo's theme), most were Snake clones, and some were particularly good, and some even made twists and additions to the original gameplay.
