Hammerfall is a violent action game which mainly involves swinging a heavy object on a chain in a looping or sideways motion. Damage is then calculated when your weapon connects with a foe, enemy or adversary.

Just about everything is controlled using the mouse, save for accessing several menu options and the like. Mouse sensitivity can be changed by editing a configuration file in the game folder. The download link is available from Fun-Motion.com.

Name: Hammerfall
Developer: GKosh

Nice play with the physics and all :) But the goals can be confusing. I didn't quite get what I was supposed to do for the 2nd level (right after I got the sword).

I think I had to save the big zeppelin thing, ended up nearly killing it myself (although I'm not sure what the bar at the top of the screen meant, if that was the health of the guy I was supposed to rescue or a boss of sorts - considering it went down when I slashed at the zeppelin I think it was the former, but when it was at zero everything went slo-mo and the bar started over). I managed just fine though (I think), until I lost track of where everything was and couldn't find anybody anymore. I tried three times, every single one I eventually "lost", being all alone on the screen and not knowing where I was supposed to go. And all three times I had valiantly fought those evul bees and gathered tons of combo points :(

Too bad, I was looking forward to abusing those funny physics some more. But since it's just a demo, I'm sure the developer plans to do some more testing, and might just include better instructions or clearer displays - I never quite got what the gauge bottom left was supposed to mean either :)

I have to add that I'm at office here, working into the night, and don't have a gaming mouse - I'm sure the control with that one would've been better, and I might have kept better track of where I (and consequently, everything else) was.

And the graphics and physics are indeed very nicely done!

This reminds me HEAVILY of the sadly underrated Rag-Doll Kung-Fu...

Did anybody get past the cutscene before the first mission after you become a slave? I see my barrel-ship-thing with a chain and another dude with a hammer keeps going slowly down, then back up, then slowly down some more. Its endlessly like that. What, is it the end of the demo?

Besides that, I really like this game. It can get a bit confusing, and the darker levels can be plain annoying and should be reworked, but over the time I played I did have fun, and could actually somewhat feel how strong my blows were, as it was how fast and aggresively I moved my mouse that counted. After a while I also figured out some of the basic technique to be able to nail yours swings, though, admitedly, the more stiff weapons are far, far easier to manage than the chained boulders.

The graphical and technical parts are pretty much flawless, though the English translation leaves a lot to be desired, and made understanding what the hell was going on very difficult. Still a very fun game, and I might be getting the full version, if the main issues are solved.

Same here, game seems to stall at that cutscene where your ship is chained to the wall.
Damn, I was really enjoying it as well!

As Anonymous pointed out, you need to change the language back to Russian to play through the slave stages. You can change it back to English after the 3-on-1 fight.

Now that I actually got to play past that mission I got to enjoy the game more. This game has real potential, and I'm curious to see how far it'll go (if it's still in development, that is). It's pretty fun.

Nice idea, mostly really lovely graphics, good presentation.

Sucky control.

Has anybody found a way to get far into the game on the hour they give you?

On the forum at GameDev.ru they have players who've managed to access some pretty nasty weapons. I can only get to about Chapter 3 or so using the hour the game gives me.

"This reminds me HEAVILY of the sadly underrated Rag-Doll Kung-Fu..."

It is simply IMPOSSIBLE to underrate that game, it is so heavily unplayable.

Both games, Rag Doll Kung Fu and especially Hammerfall are very much playable IF you're willing to invest some time to learn the way they are controlled! Hammerfall is NOT as complicated and chaotic as RDKF so once you master the controls you get a very rewarding and intuitive control mechanism.
Hammerfall is a strike of genius, I absolutely love it.

this game... is so challenging, yet... i cant get enough, ITS SO GOOD. my favorite is the spiked flail, the circle one. its the most adaptable. swords are too limited, and hammers are too heavy. BUT TEH FLAIL IS JUUUSSTT RIGHT... anyway, i wanna buy full version, if it was fixed. otherwise ill just keep trying to get that cool sword on arena mode.
