Honeyblaster is the latest release from the low key game development team LowFuel, though they have been quite prolific in other areas such as the demo scene and design related work. This particular demo features three levels with a colored background option included for players who are not keen on playing the game in it's original black and white format.

Each stage has it's own setting and offers a variety of enemies to blast at, but undeniably the Doom tribute level was designed to impress the most.

Name: Honeyblaster
Developer: LowFuel
Category: Shooter
Type: Freeware
Size: 2MB

Foiled by not knowing what the hell the Megabomb button was. Fun as I was hoping it would be, I think I'll wait until the full version though.

Mountain of Faith needs me...

That first boss killed me big time. If I didn't accidentally try the Megabombs out until I ran out... then again when I got a spare one (don't ask. Pushed the wrong button), I could've defeated it. The game rocks, though, especially with the SID tunes =D

Remember, if you have the Megabomb handy, you may press the “ALT” key at anytime during play to fire it off. Soon, it will give off a HUGE flashing explosion that will really rock away the enemies in spades... once this baby has just been fired, of course!!! (^-^)v !

And as well, there is an original play of my own on YouTube that tells you how I cleared the first two levels of Honeyblaster and broke through the first couple of bosses successfully!!! See it right here now:

...and thank you so much!!! ^_-=b !

The game has great graphics and very fitting sound effects. However, there are things I really don't like about the gameplay.

First is the slippery movement of the bee. Maybe I'm too used to twitch shmups, but the way the bee moves I find I don't have enough control over her as I would like to.

Also, where's the autofire? I don't see why I shouldn't autofire by holding the fire button, considering I'd like to keep my X key from breaking and it really gets tiring after a bit.

Other than that it's a pretty good game. I really hope autofire is implemented, since I don't see any reason it shouldn't. It's not like it'll make the game any easier.

How do you get these god damned scores, Tim? You're like a machine!

apparently hardcore mode gives more points, and AAP's video has a lot of hints as well. cly5m's score is probably the best that anyone could achieve in normal mode.

you can be sure there's no OXM reviewer-types here, just regular gamers. :D
