Punishment 2 - The Punishing is a sequel to the similarly titled platformer by Messhof, made in response to the encouragement and praises offered by the community for it's predecessor. The author has decided to reward his loyal fans with a new game that is an improvement in certain areas while introducing extremely difficult challenges and a needless gameplay element to appal rather than appeal anyone who attempts to scale the tower all the way to the top.

All switches are turned off when the player enters a new level, meaning that previous floors have to be attempted again if further progress is to be made. Playing this game for prolonged periods may burn after images onto your retina as well, so be warned. Nine levels only.

Not too keen on this one. It isn't the disorienting, spiteful, punishing nightmare that was the first - it just feels like a decent platformer with pointless padding - forcing you to go back and play through all previous levels whenever you complete a new one.

In the original game, going back to the beginning was punishment for your mistakes - in this, it just seems like an arbitrary grind.

Man.. Not played #1 but it really is a pain in the arsecast to play... as intended. :)

I prefer the first one myself, but I can't wait for the youtube style 100% uber completion speed-run of this. As I understand it you have to do the entire thing without screwing up to actually have a chance of getting to the top. I agree with Dominic though, the original game was about punishing your crapness. Here, it's basically punishing you for not being a god at this game, there's no way you could do it without rigorous training involving legendary skillz.

The first game was far harder, far more punishing, and far more frustrating. This one is just a bit boring. It's still a nice platformer, but feel more like grinding in an MMO than playing a gruelingly punishing platformer, like the first one. Which I still haven't beaten.
