Umm, I think you'll find this was a deliberate "wooden spoon" seeking entry.

The OBVIOUS hint you missed was..

(a) The rules of the competition, which stated.. "We request that you do not submit the following into the competition:-

* A game only tenuously linked to the original - i.e. Wonderboy in Zelda Land, Jet Set Willy does Dallas.
