GameHippo.com, a site which featured a large collection of outdated freeware games, was recently sold due to Boson losing interest in the scene.

More details will be revealed in the coming weeks, though it's quite certain that the new owner would be looking to recoup the amount spent on his investment one way or the other.

Ah, how can someone lose interest in independent games? They're so many great ones.

Anyway, maybe it's a good thing and the new management will be more efficient; we submitted Alphasix and Missing there back last August, and they still haven't been reviewed, I heard they have a huge list of games to review and go through it very slowly.

At its prime, GameHippo was the site to check for new freeware games. It's been sad to see it go into a decline over the past year or so, but hopefully the new owner will be able to bring some fresh blood to the site. All in all, good news I think.

Yeah GameHippo was the site that made me discover indie games. Glad to see it getting new ownership.

I wish someone would revive it... The updates were so rare in the past months.
And the Underdogs could use a kiss of life too.

This news bring me back to the times when, invited by the (now former) admin, I reviewed a couple dozen games... I should consider a comeback when the new management is set.

Meh, I should review some more games for that site, too, but college seems to take up most of my time.

the main change so far seems to be "stick google ads into all available space".

not exactly convinced so far...
