Bernard the Bard is what some consider to be the greatest game made in the MZX game creation system.

It's got a very home cooked flavour to it. It's like it's wearing this outfit with all these clashing colours and designs, but somehow it works. It's an adventure game of sorts, and was made by a fellow named Jeremy LaMar.

Download it here: http://www.digitalmzx.net/games/btb.zip

You'll need MZX to play it, downloadable here.

Wow, Bernard the Bard? That's quite an ancient artifact you've dredged up there. Nonetheless, it is possibly the best MZX game ever made, and rivals most other independent games in quality.

Bernard the Bard!! Whoa, what a flash back! I was right in the thick of Megazeux when this came out. Truly an excellent little gem. Multiple story lines, an excellent script, enjoyable combat, not to mention a technical MARVEL inside the engine it was built with -- Extra large characters, 'dodge' mechanics and the like. Lamar managed to artificially add a level of depth to Megazeux gameplay that really wasn't possible -- at least by traditional methods.

This is something I can happily sacrifice part of my Christmas vacation to!

I was just thinking about Bernard the Bard! What wonderful timing. I watched the MegaZeux community from afar when I was younger, and this game was one of the ones that blew me away.

I'm on a Mac now... the MegaZeux wiki says the latest version's Mac compatible: can anyone find a compiled version? I really want to play this now.

Wohksworth, I'm told there's an OSX version of MZX. I have no idea where it is though.

This MAY work, maybe. You'll have to try it.

Does anyone know how to get through the sewers? I tried the LLRLRR suggestion from the tavern, but it didn't work. I'm really stuck. :S

Wow, you're posting about MegaZeux games now? How about Demon Earth or Forrester (both found in the archives at www.digitalmzx.net)?
