Wonderlines from Nevosoft is an excellent remake of Color Lines with plenty of shiny new features that will keep you hooked to this puzzler for a long time.
Here's how the game works. For each turn, you are only allowed to move one ball. Line up at least three balls of the same color in a straight line to remove them from the playing field, and preventing new balls from appearing for at least another turn. Balls can only be moved to a desired location if a clear path to the free spot exists.
There's a quota to achieve in every stage which is represented by a bar on the left side of the screen. Fill up this gauge to progress to the next level. Some balls are infused with magical properties, such as the ability to take on any color or even removing all balls of the same color from the playing field. Special items such as hammers can be used to remove any ball. Some balls will be locked in position, forcing you to make matches around them.
Three game modes will keep you busy for a long time, although adventure mode is probably the meat of the game. You have to match balls around colored tiles to complete each stage in puzzle mode. Make matches to fill up the gauge in the shortest time possible in action mode.
Graphics and sound production value in this game is excellent. Reducing the number of balls from five to three for a valid match could perhaps be the best decision in making this title accessible to a wider audience. I'm not a big fan of the original game but this is one puzzler I'd highly recommend, to hardcore puzzle fans and casual gamers alike.
