Axel City is an excellent fighting game made by Atsuki Koitabashi using Enterbrain's 2D Fighter Maker 2k2.

It seems that fourteen characters were designed for this effort but only a handful made it into the trial version. Control mapping plus basic moves applicable to all fighters can be found on this page. Individual moves and special attacks are shown before each battle as well.

A neat inclusion is the team versus mode, where each player gets to choose three characters for their team instead of one solitary fighter. To download the demo, just click the third link on the navigational bar to the left.
