Practically all over the internet by now, Iain McLeod's trippy Asteroids clone has been inducted into the world of freeware - partly because few people would buy a game loaded to the brim with effects (see Space Giraffe), but also to promote the updated remake which is set for a release sometime in 2008. Seems like both games have a lot in common..

Quote oddbob:
...a work of complete and utter genius.
...one of those rare games...
...there's nothing else like it out there.
...it's certainly unique...

Get Spheres of Chaos here.

Trippy! Awesome! Completely brain-smashing when played for long periods! I registered the game a long time ago and forgot about it since then... time for a blast from the past :)

I think it could do with some alpha blending or at least transparencies for its effects. It's nice though. I like the team mode.

Wow this brings back good memories. Back when I was too young to drive and desperately needed something to cure my boredom.

Ah, nice. I bought this like 10 years ago or something. Brilliant to hear that there is a new version coming!

Oh man, this is great. I had to sit way back from my screen to look at it though. The resolution and colours remind me of a game called "Superball" that came out around 1992. What a great age that was.

This goes into my "trip" folder, along with stuff like Whorld and Drempels. Don't know if I would actually be able to play a GAME though.
