Dot FightersNote: Your Windows XP/2000 operating system has to be set up to run Japanese software in order to play Dot Fighters. Please refer to the site indicated in the FAQ for more information.

To download the 285MB full version of Dot Fighters:
Click on the link below, which can also be found at Takase's blog.

http://www.filebank.co.jp/guest/takase61/df6 (opens in a new window)

1. Enter the password "easy" in the first blank area.
2. Enter the login code (as seen where it says "login code", not case sensitive) in the second blank area.
3. Check the box at the bottom if it's empty.
4. Click the button at the bottom next to said box.

5. Once you get into the folder, click the last button at the top (looks like a cog). This will take you to the download setup.
6. Choose the second option in the window that opens.
7. Click on the first button at the bottom. This window should close.
8. Click on the first button on the folder page (image of an arrow pointing downward).
9. Double-click on the executable to extract the files automatically. This is a stand-alone updated version; the older 384MB and 278MB files are not required.

Mirrors will be posted in the IG forums.

For a game with a smaller file size (40MB) but similar gameplay and just as good, try Light Destiny.

I just realized after trying to download a second time (since my computer froze up the first time through) that step number three isn't necessary, but either way it works.

Excellent! Thanks much. I'm getting it now.

(Also, 384MB? Holy cow.)

Righteous, can't wait for this. Downloading at a blazing 7.0 k/sec right now. Is there by any chance a mirror someone might know of?
Anonymous Anonymous said at 9/29/2006 12:23:00 AM:
I'm downloading at < 1 kbps (I imagine it will speed up when it's late nite in Japan), at 10%.

I'll put up a mirror when it finishes unless someone beats me to it.

ok that really wasn't worth the hassle... was a good game for a bit but not for all that hassle

If you don't do the "click on the cog" bit, it tries to use its own upload/download manager instead of just the browser. Is this any faster?
Blogger Khris said at 9/30/2006 12:04:00 PM:
I doubt it. I can't imagine that you'd get a faster speed just from different software, but feel free to try and give us the news.

Guess what? There's already a revision: http://takaseblog.blog56.fc2.com/blog-entry-83.html

Same process as before, except this time the password is "mojar." It looks like it's an auto-extracting .exe this time, and apparently he took out junk files that were taking up space. I'm not absolutely sure if it's all the required files, so don't delete anything until you download it and see for sure. Now it's at a size of 278 MB. Still large, but 100 megs shorter than last time.

From the blog, the updates in v3 are:

* Fixed background music freezing on the bonus stage

* Corrected position of the WIN message

* VS mode sound fixed. (Only a small change.)

* Made it possible to skip the opening demo.

* Dot Escape can be performed with the Kick button.

* Adjusted the bonus strength time for some characters.

I asked on Takase's blog if there was a BitTorrent download available.

His response, translated, was:

There is no BitTorrent.
There is no apology.
